Hi Ronaldo,

Please try a easier windoku first and then come to this difficult. Try to understand the logic from the solution from the solutions as a last resort, as advised by the admin.

Hi again,

This is the first Equal Sum Lines Sudoku I have solved since starting to solve variants some 10 months ago. So I am not a expert and the experts have already given you hints. Still I will add one more. Please read this with the earlier posts with others.

The minimum sum must be 21 has been established. In box 9, since 1 can't be in R6C6 (minimum can't be reached, same logic to have put 2 in R1C2), we place 1 in R7C6, This means that 4 has to be in R6C6 or R6C7. So the maximum possible sum of the line in R6C6-9 can be 21 only (4+8+9). So we conclude that the Equal Sum is 21. With this deduction you must be able to solve, I suppose.

I am reluctant to post this because I am new to this and so I might have missed something. In some other variants after solving it in the Instructions I have found out that further insights are needed to solve the variant.

Keep trying and solve more of the same variants to understand it fully. You are bound to improve over time.

What was your opinion of the distribution of easy/hard puzzles? Just right
What did you think about the puzzle quality of the test? Fairly Nice
Which set of puzzles did you like the most? Little Killer Sudoku
Of the puzzles you solved/attempted, how well did the point values reflect the difficulty? Many puzzles were worth too much or too little

What was your opinion of the distribution of easy/hard puzzles? Too many medium difficult puzzles
What did you think about the puzzle quality of the test? Very nice
Which set of puzzles did you like the most? Rhombus Sudoku
Of the puzzles you solved/attempted, how well did the point values reflect the difficulty? Most puzzles were worth the right amount

Beautiful set of puzzles. Loved x-sum, kid, and unique sums. Broke renban and got overwhelmed with rhombus during the test.

Great set of sudokus, enjoyed this contest greatly! especially loved the equal sum lines, kid sudoku and odd even bridge, all of which I tried for the first time.
Thanks Rakesh!

Feedback page asks for 3 favorite puzzles, but the choices are about whether the puzzles were worth the right amount, so I'll answer here instead:

3 favorite puzzles: Little Killer, X-Sums, Odd-Even Bridge

That question on the feedback page can be ignored as mentioned earlier in the thread. Thanks Sedho!

Thanks Rakesh for a refreshing set of Sudokus. Really enjoyed solving them. I was a bit patchy and messed up Killer multiple times, but the overall quality of Sudokus was quite good.

Thanks Aashay! You started very well actually but hit a roadblock somewhere - either the killer or the slightly unfamiliar variants.

Great set of sudokus Rakesh ! I thoroughly enjoyed the contest and it was hard to choose a favourite amongst these. However, if I were to pick a few, LK, X-Sums and Equal sum Lines would top the list in that order.

The sudokus were very nicely constructed and were clean as a whistle.I was mostly concerned about Kid sudoku as I haven't seen this type much before in the past.Fortunately, I got through that rather fast after getting the idea.I had major hiccups in Rhombus and Diagonal towards the end but thankfully I didn't break those.

Thanks a lot for the contest !

Thanks Kishore! Kid sudoku clues were kept simple with the only catch being that those rows/columns were blank. Otherwise, it was easy to deduce the different combinations to make 99999.

Thanks Harmeet! Unfortunate that you were not able to complete Renban and Rhombus within the contest duration.

Yeah, I broke the Killer 4 times, which ruined my contest, leaving me little time to attempt the unfamiliar variants, which I had left for the end.

Thanks to all 148 participants!

Congratulations to all winners, especially all participants who scored above 80. No surprises in the top 5 - Kota Morinishi, Seungjae Kwak, Hideaki Jo, Endo Ken and Michael Ley.

It was a challenging test - with some easy ones to start, some unfamiliar variants and some moderate to tough grids in the end. Also, special mention for Vijaya, Ritaban, Priyam, Aashay, Swaroop and Gaurav who were able to solve 10+ grids during the contest.

Rhombus and Equal Sum Lines were the least solved variants and Mini and Classic were obviously the most solved ones.

Hope you enjoyed the contest. And good luck to everyone for the upcoming WSC!

Pentakaideca = "a fifteen sided polygon" - If you look at the contest image, it is a fifteen sided polygon, loosely representing fifteen sudokus in this contest.
