We've decided to merge LMI April Sudoku Test with ISC2011 - Online Qualification.
Just like regular monthly Sudoku tests, this will also be open for 48 hours.

The Instruction Booklet will be published on 17thApril.

The only difference is the start time of the test.
Instead of regular 5:30IST start, the test will be open from 14:00 IST on Saturday till 14:00 IST on Monday.

During Spring Sudoku Test last month, some players faced problems while solving the Killer Sudoku online.
We've made few changes to the interface, and I feel the interface for solving Killer Sudoku is much better than how it was in last month. Please check the example on the submission page.
Thanks mainly to Rakesh who came up with multiple ideas to change the interface with minimal effort.

There was one more suggestion to make the grids re-sizable. We didn't find any easy way to achieve this given the existing framework. However, we'll keep this in mind as a potential enhancement for future.

Sudoku booklet is uploaded - It has 8 pages. Sudokus are organized as per the Points Table in the IB.
There is no cover page or points table in the booklet.

Excellent test with many fun puzzles (and several moments that definitely reminded me of the great puzzles from WSC Goa several years ago). Thanks very much for sharing this qualifier as the April Sudoku Test.

Thanks Thomas.
There have already been some awesome performances at the top (of course including yours). This should be more closely fought than Twist!

Beautiful set of sudokus. A must-do for all solvers, beginners and professionals, there's something in it for everybody.

Trio and Killer were fantastic. I've never seen a better Trio Sudoku before. Anyone knows of a 6-given Trio?

It's definitely possible to make a 6-given Trio. If you sketch out a 2-given path for any set of three digits which has just one digit per column in each region (I've just done this), then you can cycle the three rows in every chute with the same 2-given pattern to get a 6-given puzzle. My 6-given isn't that interesting since it is the same puzzle three times, but the theoretical limit can be achieved certainly.

Well Rohan, if you like hard trios, it wouldn't be displaced to invite you to give a try at french prequalifications (or at least to get the puzzles later).

I have to miss this since I'm a little unwell and have my examinations going on, but I plan to do it next week.

I tried creating a 6-given Trio sometime back, but I didn't push after failing a couple of times. My enthu got lost until yesterday when I was fondly surprised to see it. All I can say, I could've tried harder :-)

I've always felt variants like Odd-Even and Trio are more enjoyable if there is a not-so-obvious path of solving, which is rarely the case.

Another 5 hours. So boring waiting to announce the results when only a handful of players have participated since mid-night (IST).

It is surprising that nobody complained about the score page (not this test but all LMI score pages), the main table on left is not sortable. So when someone is viewing the score page after few hours they have no way to figure out who are the recent additions. We should do something about it.

I did this TRIO yesterday night, nice puzzle, but could do it little fast (better than my standards) of course used trail and error at places. In fact all puzzles at French prequalifications were excellent.

Thats a bad mistake. In one place we mentioned end time as 14:00, in other place as 16:00.

We'll run till 16:00 in case anyone was planning to take during that period.

After a long wait, LMI April Sudoku Test is over.

We had some excellent performances at the top.
Thomas blew through the Sudokus in 90 minutes, and Jan completed in 101 minutes. Nikola completed in 108 minutes. They complete the podium for April Sudoku Test.

7 other players completed all sudokus in 120 minutes, and at least few more were close to complete all, most notably Timothy. The score page is indeed top-heavy.

Among Indian players, Rohan was the only one to complete. Rishi made a mistake (typo again!) in Trio and messed up with Product, otherwise he was close too. Gaurav (participated out of the official ISC window) solved 12 puzzles correctly to complete Indian podium.

Overall we had 268 players, out of which 209 players submitted at least one Sudoku correctly.

Test Solvers
Many thanks to Branko Ceranic (skywalker) and Gülce Özkütük (suboree) for pretesting all the Sudokus, and also testing the web interface before the round started.

I found it strange that you always start with the most difficult puzzles (or you simply want to grab the highest pointers?)
