Wonderfull set of Puzzles.
That's a good beginning to the year 2019.
Thanks Rohan and LMI.
My favourite were Wranglers and Battleships.
It could have been better for me, as I spent 27 min just for last puzzle Wranglers. But at least managed to finish it in time. So happy for that.
But Wranglers was real workout, there were so many possibilites i was missing. Finally with the help of few tricks i grinded it out.
Thanks again.
Happy New Year to everyone !!!

Felt like there were more rows/columns that had arrows (for the answer keys) than normal. Also a bit weird that some of them had letters on and some didn't (unless there's something odd going on with my printing!). But the puzzles themselves were mostly nice, anyway. :-)
I hope the level of difficulty will be consistent across all the rounds, I'm much more likely to compete if I know/ hope I only need to set aside one hour instead of 90 minutes.

I had #14 marked as wrong, so I double checked my answer and then wrote an email to the admins as instructed... before finally noticing a digit error in my answer key. Oops! I was too distracted by the message. :)

It was a nice set of puzzles, but really... the answer keys were confusing. I spent quite remarkable time filling the answer keys - and the worst one was fourwinds in my opinion.

This was a very nice test, with good puzzle quality :)

On the subject of answer keys, it was hard for certain puzzles to generate and check the answer key.

In general, I feel like answer keys that ask for full rows/columns are better : easier to check for competitors, and easier to auto-check for mistyping (length, sum...)

The hardest for me was the "tents" answer key : I found it very hard and slow to count "longest non-tent area", as trees are "occupied cells" and look more like tents cells than blank cells.
I think I'd rather have to copy full rows (something like XOOXOX, with X tents and 0 non-tent), than what we had in this test.
Alternatively, making it a "battleship like" answer key with leftmost tent for each row would at least unify the format with another placement puzzle.

Four|Eight winds and [wr|]anglers weren't easy as well but not as bothersome as tents.

Of course, all the above does not take into account the primary role of answer keys, which is to check the correctness of the players's solution, so I have no pretention to offer a perfect solution. I just wanted to give my prespective on this subject :)

I had great fun solving the puzzles.Answer keys for four Winds and Eight winds (length of longest line segment) were too confusing to me.As I hadn't looked at the answer keys before starting the test , I opened the IB and understood how the answer key worked which took some time.Tents' too could have been better .But this apart, a great set.

Still struggling to solve the left out wranglers (14 pointer) .I have just 2 clues remaining (10 & 8)with rest all fitting well. But just unable to reach a solution. Breaking my head over it :-p

Favourite puzzles are Battleships (8 pointer), Hitori (3 pointer) and Area Division (10 points).

Thanks Rohan .Nicely constructed !

I also found the puzzles very good and with the right balance easy-difficult. Got through most of the easy ones very quickly and after 41 minutes with only 4 puzzles left to solve I started to key in my answers. But it took me more than 10 minutes just to file the answer keys for 18 puzzles! Far too long!! Then I solved three more puzzles quickly and then.... the last wrangler! 22 minutes left, I got the grasp of it relatively quickly but was stuck with the bottom left corner and the last two clues.... until I saw the light with only two minute to go.
Could have been a nearly perfect round. At least it has been a round in which I could complete the task. Doesn't happen often, when it happens is exhilarating. Thanks Rohan for an exciting contest.

Really enjoyed this test.
I liked the 4 winds and the 8 winds sets most of all.
Weirdly, I got the 8 pointer Battleships in less than 1 minute, whereas the 4 pointer one took me quite a while.

Didnt have much time to finish the wranglers.

Anglers answer key was a pain tbh, counting the number of turns took a while.

Thanks to Rohan for an enjoyable test :)
