There is a one-page article on Arta Inkala's 'Toughest Sudoku' in today's Mumbai Mirror. I had given it a shot last night and was able to solve it in 21 minutes using guesswork. His challenge to everyone is to find a logical path of solving it, which he says can take weeks! I had given my views and feedback.

Those who live in Mumbai can read the article in Mumbai Mirror (page 8).
You can also read the article from the e-paper link: http://www.mumbaimirror.com/index.aspx?Page=article§name=News+-...

If anyone solves the sudoku, please share your timing.
Inkola had said 'The best players should be able to solve it within 25 minutes'.

Well, this puzzle was claimed to be "the toughest" several years ago ; things have changed now and there are lots of harder puzzles available. Anyway, finding a logical way to solve this one is a real challenge. Using guesswork, french player Yannick Meyapin solved it in 15/20 minutes during a competition.

Here is a puzzle which is theoretically even more challenging, with or without guesses :

. . . | . . . | . 3 9
. . . | . . 1 | . . 5
. . 3 | . 5 . | 8 . .
------+-------+------
. . 8 | . 9 . | . . 6
. 7 . | . . 2 | . . .
1 . . | 4 . . | . . .
------+-------+------
. . 9 | . 8 . | . 5 .
. 2 . | . . . | 6 . .
4 . . | 7 . . | . . .
