I have repeated rule 2 in a way that it makes sense to me. All changed words are upper-case: 2 - Each digit represents a guard, observing EXACTLY that amount of blackened cells in the corresponding DIRECTION. A digit in an undivided cell MUST observe in AT LEAST ONE of the four directions. Yes, a digit in an undivided cell should observe in at least one of the 4 direction. It can observe all four directions, or two of them, or three of them; but in any case it has at least one observation.

CTC & TVC Author & Organizer Posts: 183 Location: Turkey | Para - 2012-02-10 11:53 AM I also had a question about Tapa Guard. In an undivided cell, if there are equal digits, should each observe that amount of cells in a different direction? I used this in my puzzle, but I wasn't 100% sure if I was correct in assuming that now. At least it's handy to know submitting in the grace period will always increase your score as no puzzle is worth less than the total penalty. I didn't use that you mentioned clue type in competition puzzles. All undivided clue cell has only one digit.

Location: India | PuzzleScott - 2012-02-12 12:38 PM Bit of misunderstanding there, I guess. You can finish contest by Claiming only after you submit all puzzles.I could see results after the timer expired, but not when I finished the contest (by Claiming).

Posts: 315 Location: The Netherlands | I'd never really considered is as I never claimed bonus succesfully. Is there a special reason bonus is computed on the full minute and penalty on the second? Both are mentioned per minute in the scoring.

Posts: 42 Location: United States | In reading the rules/scoring, it appeared that bonus/penalty points were a strategic tradeoff in deciding when to Claim. After looking at Results and discussion, it appears that Bonus only applies if all puzzles are completed correctly.
