The guess the author selections disappear when they disappear from sight as you scroll downwards or upwards to select the rest.

Yes. Will fix that.

I had been randomly assigning some to test what was happening in the end.

I do see I have good timing as I was just now randomly checking if the full score page was up for the first time today by clicking the results link. apparently it´s just been uploaded.

Congrats to Rohan, prasanna, amit and rakesh. Best of luck for WPC 2012.
After seeing the whole scorepage it seems satisfactory that i am at that position because I know with what conditions i have appeared for the test. It seems that 1 puzzle mistake if was correct then i would have been in.
anyways nice experience and thanks to all authors,Deb,LMI for organizing IPC 2012.

Great performance by Swaroop too, narrowly missing out on the top 4.
A few days before the IPC I has spoken to Rajesh and he had correctly predicted the top 5 and he had mentioned your name.
Being away from the scene I was not aware that you have been doing so well.
Good to see you in the mix of things. Makes for stiffer competition for making it to the team in future years.

The number of wrong submissions made by the 2nd placed individual are also identical. Very interesting indeed.

The mistakes by 5th person are also same :P
also the gap between 4th and 5th person is small. :) in both cases.

You may want to edit that image out for now; how many puzzles were solved by some contestants is a bit too much information for someone who hasn't taken the test yet.

Indian Puzzle Championship 2012 is now over.

Congratulations again to Rohan, Prasanna, Amit and Rakesh.

Rohan played really well, but pressure did him in and he couldn't solve one puzzle although he had 7+ minutes in hand.
Prasanna kept making mistakes in every LMI test and continued to do the same in IPC as well. Hope he gets rid of this good habit soon.
When Amit told me that he wants to participate this year, I was extremely happy for him. But I was not sure if he had enough practice. He certainly proved me wrong.
We have always considered Rakesh as the dark horse and he finally proved his worth in a national championship.

It is bit harsh for Swaroop who was just 10 points - a single puzzle away for 4th position, but I'm sure he can improve a lot in coming years.

A total of 128 Indians participated during the official period. Thank you everyone.

Among international players, top 3 positions go to deu, Kota and uvo. deu played extremely well to finish all puzzles in 84 minutes. ( I also want to thank deu for taking IPC earlier to check any problems in submission site.)

Obviously, the timing was decided keeping Indian players in target. So 150 minutes might have seemed too long for many international players. Many players completed all 30 puzzles (some with few mistakes). I hope everyone enjoyed the puzzles.

Here are the voting results of the Guess The Authors:

Some comments:

  • As Easy As ABC and Square Division were the only pairs that had different authors for the two puzzles.
  • Palmer's Slitherlinks, Serkan's Kakuros and Thomas' TomToms were probably the easiest to guess due to the practise puzzles on their respective blogs.
  • It is surprising to see Palmer get many votes for Tapa (when Serkan is part of list of authors)
  • It looks like Thomas' set of 6 puzzles were the easiest set to guess.
  • Serkan's Mastermind votes are the least.
  • Star Battle was probably the toughest puzzle to vote for.

Thanks for voting and hope you enjoyed this little game.

Congratulations to Bram for winning Guess-The-Authors contest. He got 24 correct (he mainly missed the Masterminds and Star Battles).

Sirs,
It was a pleasure participating in the NPC 12 . Congratulations on conducting it so very smoothly and glitch free !
I stood at 108 rank ( not sure what rank among indians ). While I have been participating in the WPC online every year - would it be possible for me to attend the next WPC - Croatia ( at my own expense ) but as a standby ( or some other way ) part of TEAM INDIA ?

Coming to the puzzles, there were some really good quality ones there. I loved the Borders one most, but then I'm biased towards Tapa. I made a marking error in Colored Star Battle due to the double set of markings required, but its still easily one of my favorites in the set. I loved the way the F Pentominos worked. A lot of the puzzles I just rushed through in 30-40 seconds like Masyu and Tapa, so couldn't fully appreciate them in the competition scenario. Liar Slitherlink was another I really liked with the full grid being used to give a nice solving path.

I made an error on every single Number/letter entry puzzle other than Classic Kakuro and Classic Sudoku, but I still liked the Gapped Kakuro best amongst these.

My favorite 5 would be :
Borders, Colored Star Battle, Liar Slitherlink, Gapped Kakuro, Graffiti Snake/Snake(can't make up my mind on that one :P )

Thanks to all the organizers, authors, test solvers. I really enjoyed this one, and its my first break-into the top 4 in an Indian Championship so I've finally managed to convince myself to be happy about it :P

You can definitely participate as an "unofficial". This depends on how many slots are remaining for unofficials as per limitations of the hosts I think. Your ranking won't be counted in any of the official score cards, and I don't think you can be part of Team India. I was unofficial last year and made my own "United Nations" team just for participating. While we weren't counted in official rankings, we got the lowest possible score and enjoyed every bit of it.
