SM 2020 (Math) Author Posts: 417 Location: India | A personal request to the respected author of this test. Can the duration of this test be increased by another 30 or 40 mins?I know this is not going to affect the top solvers in any way as they would be stagnating bonus points by completing in 60 or 70 mins or in even lesser times. So other than increasing their bonus points further they wont be affected in any way.On the other hand people who are on the lower half of the median score and people whose rank scores are miserable like me will get an opportunity to solve more puzzles within the test time. This was what i felt even during word show.I could have solved atleast 2 more if the time had been a bit more. After all we dont want a situation where in the feedback we see more people choosing way too many puzzles(but too little time)again.

Posts: 315 Location: The Netherlands | Do we need to be able to print in colour to do this test? I see a lot of colours in the puzzles and especially for the Trid on the tetrahedron, I see it maybe causing trouble. Edited by Para 2012-12-06 1:11 AM

Posts: 35 Location: United States | So how do the puzzles here compare to the ones in the offline contest? I'm guessing some of them are probably the same, but the offline instruction booklet also includes several puzzle types not in the LMI instruction booklet, and has a longer time allowed to complete everything. I'm also guessing that for this version of the contest, the "rounds" don't really matter.

Location: India | FoxFireX - 2012-12-06 8:37 AM For the online LMI contest, there are no rounds structure. There will be just the 13 types (17 puzzles) in one go. So the rounds structure mentioned in IB does not mean much to the online contest. So how do the puzzles here compare to the ones in the offline contest? I'm guessing some of them are probably the same, but the offline instruction booklet also includes several puzzle types not in the LMI instruction booklet, and has a longer time allowed to complete everything. I'm also guessing that for this version of the contest, the "rounds" don't really matter. For the offline contest, there are some additional puzzle types, and certainly more puzzles. May be we can ask Riad to post all puzzles once the contest is over. tamz29 - 2012-12-06 9:04 AM No.Is this rated?

Moscow Puzzle Cup 2016 Author Posts: 234 Location: Russia | Para - 2012-12-06 1:10 AM Do we need to be able to print in colour to do this test? I see a lot of colours in the puzzles and especially for the Trid on the tetrahedron, I see it maybe causing trouble. This is not necessary. For the online version the Trid on the tetrahedron I especially made smaller (stings arrows). On A4 paper, diameter of each circle is 6 mm. At Moscow Puzzle Cup this puzzle will be on A3 paper.

2021 World Sudoku+Puzzle Convention Organizer Posts: 1784 Location: India | As my feedback share shows, I don't think the puzzles themselves were too hard this time, except the big pointers of course. There's enough there of all difficulties to get through. Its just the quantity that was high this time.

Posts: 315 Location: The Netherlands | I had fun. Nice puzzles. A bit surprised I somehow topped the standings so far. With 10 more minutes I might have pushed out the second pentomino, but I couldn't directly find an opening so opted for the trids instead as I figured i'd at least get some partial credit for doing those. Managed to work my way to the answer key circles for all. Think it might have been better to have complete rows for those. [Edit] After just doing it, I think that second pentomino puzzle is absolutely brilliant. Edited by Para 2012-12-11 5:07 AM

Posts: 31 Location: United Kingdom | Thanks Riad. Lovely puzzles from you as usual. I look forward to doing the remaining ones at my leisure. It is a pity that the 'instant score/correction' facility wasn't enabled for this contest. It is an excellent feature of LMI contests that avoids nearly all claims for typos.
