Odd Even & Twisted Classics (SM 16/17) Author Posts: 460 Location: India | akash.doulani - 2010-12-21 12:07 PM have a question. in the example there are two sudokus given . the numbers in the circle of the first sudoku has to be put in the second sudoku. again , from the second sudoku are the same numbers to be put in the 3rd sudoku or we will get another set of circles from where the numbers will have to be marked to the 3rd sudoku? Puzzle 2 will have a different set of circled numbers that need to be carried to puzzle 3... otherwise it wont be a relay...since you will simply use circled numbers from puzzle 1 into all subsequent puzzles... Posts: 9 Location: United Kingdom | I am not sure about the rules - once I find out the 6 circles from sudoku 1, do I know what circles I should put them into in sudoku 2? Or it can be in any order - I should work this out? Thanks for your help, Ronald

Mean Minis (2020) Author Posts: 774 Location: India | Nice set of grids. Inspite of reading the rules, I spent quite some time trying to fit the six numbers from grid 1 into the solid circles of grid 2...before finally realizing that I should be putting them into the dotted ones.

Posts: 152 Location: United Kingdom | Lovely set - much appreciated even playing through the tiredness in the early hours of the morning. Although I do regret not having my wits about me to get through to the very end as I'm sure this was very finishable. I managed to not submit puzzle 4 - but I was wondering about a competition of this type...isn't it almost guaranteed that if a correct solution is posted to a later puzzle (say #10 for example) that correct solutions must have been posted to puzzles #1-9?

Not necessarily Tom.... I mean, the answer key for a puzzle is not the same as the relay numbers being carried forward... I can get all 6 relay cells correct but say if I type in 1( or any other number ) twice in the answer key then the solution for that puzzle gets wrong but my relay carry forward is correct so I can get the next puzzle correct :) Rishi

Posts: 152 Location: United Kingdom | Ah my point was the puzzles were wonderfully well designed - you had no chance of getting anywhere near the carried forward digits unless you had pretty much finished the puzzle - they really were as good as answer keys in my opinion. Of course, bear in mind I was very tired whilst taking the test :)
