• This thread will remain open (unrestricted) throughout the contest - which will allow players to ask questions about the puzzles.
• The red warnings for optimizer puzzles are not always correct. You can ignore them, if you are fairly sure that your answer keys are in correct format;
• Potential Score page - http://logicmastersindia.com/2015/04Contest/score.asp

Some notes about April Contest

Please note this contest will have a slightly different format than regular LMI tests.

Key differences from regular LMI tests:
• There is no IB (i.e. no Instructions Booklet). If you have any questions about any puzzle, please ask here.
• The PB (Puzzle Booklet) does have any password
• You can download the pdf and start solving. Login at the contest page to start submitting.
• There is no time limit. You can submit until the contest ends.
• There are 3 optimizer puzzles. Other puzzles will hard (compared to regular LMI tests)
• Same scores will have same rank (i.e. early submissions do not count towards rank)

Why is April Contest not counted for Puzzle Ratings?

This is an annual contest. Forsmarts annual contests, and if I recall correctly Fillomino-Fillia 2, weren't counted for Puzzle Ratings, either.

Very nice stuffs again! I have two questions:

4. MIRRORED SUDOKUS
I don't understand the rule: "All cells with digits which, after mirroring, become the same or other digits (in any of the other grids) are marked by green". Why in the solution of the example not all the same mirrored digits are marked by green? And how to solve an example when we have only one given digit? Also a thinking why digital shapes are given? Must be I miss something in this puzzle.

11. NUMBERED SNAKE
There is no limitation about sequence of the numbers for this puzzle. I suppose we need to place the numbers strictly from 1 to 45 in creasing order. Am I right?

Hi Nikola,

4. In the example only 0 and 1 can be reflected itself in each of four grids. The number 3 may be mirrored in 3 or letter E. Therefore, one given digit enough to solve an example.

11. You are right.

(Adding to the explanation given by Riad already)
Any cell will have three possible "mirror" cells, one in each quadrant. If any one or more of these three represent a valid number (0 to 5, digital shape), then the original cell will be shaded green. If not, it will be shaded white.

Clear now, thanks. Yes, "reflected" is key word and the rules always say "mirrored". I don't know why those two words are not synonyms in my mind.

Hi Stefano,
Riad made this grid with solid lines. Please check.

To follow up on the previous question. Is it allowed to make the crossings on the cells with the letters? In that case, if the letter has remained out of the loop, is it an empty cell?

Hello. Very pleasant contest : I like !
For puzzle 11, the answer is controlled as "- or number (10 times)" but the grid is 11x11 : so I suppose it would be "- or number (11 times)" ?

I have the same question. For example, along the line we must go through two letters 'A' : is it possible to go through the same letter 'A' 2 times (by crossing), and to avoid the second letter 'A' ?

The line should pass through each letter. The letter can not be remained out of the loop.

I have the same question. For example, along the line we must go through two letters 'A' : is it possible to go through the same letter 'A' 2 times (by crossing), and to avoid the second letter 'A' ?

Perhaps such conditions would make the puzzle more difficult. But I assumed that the line goes through all the characters.

In the answering form, for puzzle 11, I think the answer keys need to be of length 11 not 10 as claimed by the format verification code (which warns me that my answer keys are not of the right length).

(In general, many of the answer keys seem trickier than necessary -- really, counting the C's? diagonals that go in the opposite of the usual direction? --, but it's too late to change them).

I'm a pronounced left-handed. Maybe because I offered unusual diagonals?

About puzzle 10 (APRIL CONTEST 2015 AT LMI):
It is not necessary for the line to start at cells with A and end at cells with I.
